Bioscope – IX [Tear-Jerker - I ]

Devdas (1955)

It is based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novella Devdas and there is no introduction needed for it. Devdas was made more than 7 times in different languages. In Hindi  - 1935 with Kundan Lal Saigal and Jamuna. In 1955 with Dilip Kumar, Suchitra Sen and last one in 2002 with Sharukh Khan, Aishyara Rai and Madhuri Dixit. For me second one which was directed by Bimal Roy was the best of the lot.
